My Story

I live in Southwestern Ontario with my three daughters and our little white fluff of a dog, Lyla. I am a Professor in the Faculty of Business at Fanshawe College and I own and operate a wellness clinic where I work as a Registered Massage Therapist, Registered Yoga Teacher and Musculoskeletal Acupuncturist to book at the clinic click here.

Since the moment I was able to form sentences on paper, I have been writing stories. In grade one, I developed a strange obsession with eggs (such a great shape) and wrote a series of stories about my magic egg. I illustrated pictures to go with each page, all containing (for reasons unknown) a hidden frog. I would get them "published" in the library at my school with a spiral binding and wallpaper cover, then I would go around the school reading them to other classes and obtaining words of praise on the inside cover from the teachers. I wrote so many, my mom had to volunteer at the school making more wallpaper covers. Thanks, mom.

I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on. My childhood idols were Anne of Green Gables, Jo from Little Women, and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I loved strong female protagonists with huge imaginations.

I completed my first novel when I was eleven years old. The year prior, I read The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, The Secret Garden and A Wrinkle in Time back-to-back and so grew my love for world-building and magic. I remember every year, blowing out my birthday candles, saying in my head, "I wish I was magic," until I was too old to be making such wishes. Little did I know, the magic I created was not with a wand, but rather a pen.

My debut novel, The Light Warrior is ready for publication. It is a story about never giving up and allowing yourself to dream, even when the world seems to be against you. I am currently working on the synopsis and query letter, so I can start querying literary agents.
